When Love is Worth the Wait

Rebekah also looked up and saw Isaac. She got down from her camel and asked the servant, “Who is that man in the field coming to meet us?” Genesis 24:64-65

I wonder what Rebekah was thinking when she was on her way to meet her partner in life whom she never ever met.  It was truly worth the wait for God had Isaac ready for her.

Young ladies, God has prepared the best man for you.  You need only to wait for the right time, God’s time.

In a generation where everybody seems to have somebody, young women are pushed to get into a relationship without having second thoughts.  They feel obliged to have a partner and usually end up with the wrong guy, leaving her heart-broken, torn into pieces, and sometimes used-up.

The Bible teaches us otherwise.  Our text tells us the love story of Isaac and Rebekah.  Rebekah never had a boyfriend when the servant of Isaac’s Father met her (Gen.24:16).  She never thought that she’d be married to the heir of Abraham (Gen.24:36).  When the time for her to marry has come, she obeyed and trusted that God will complete what has already started.  Indeed, God showed His faithfulness in the life of Isaac and Rebekah.

God writes the best love stories if we only allow Him to.  Sometimes, we cannot endure the period of waiting and end up striving to fit our lives with that of the opposite sex.  The truth is we need not to.  God has reserved the best partner for you, you need only to wait.  And when you do wait, it truly is worth it.
